Visualizing sea-level rise

Susi Moser, member of the national UHF Council, was the lead researcher on a project using viewfinders called OWLs, which showed panoramic virtual-reality images of how sea-level rise will change the shoreline in Marin County, north of San Francisco. A survey built into the OWLs gathered input from passers-by on what they saw and felt, and the county has taken it into account for its pilot restoration projects and more. As Susi said: “One of the big challenges we always face is getting people engaged and taking action on climate change is they keep thinking this is going to happen to someone else, somewhere else, or to someone in the future, far away.” Read more here https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/virtual-reality-viewfinders-show-sea-level-rise-and-what-to-do-about-it/
