We are grieving past, present, and future, a future that will not be the same, while present and past are shifting too. We know that our separation and possessive dreams have blinded us to our dependence on all life forms. To grieve is recover the wisdom of our shared gratitude, compassion, love.


Trained as a Buddhist monk at the San Francisco Zen Center, John Bailes is formally recognized as a Zen Buddhist Roshi. He has a Harvard degree in international economics, has been a financial planner and a professional sailboat captain and is now the Buddhist chaplain at Wellesley College
