The pandemic reveals “worsening structural flaws of long duration, now poised to unravel in a cascade.” Free-market neo-liberalism — its grotesque inequality and unregulated economic growth –“has put the continuation of our civilization at risk.” This could continue after the pandemic, or the world could wake up and respond urgently “with a revolution in values and a civilization based on fairness, community, compassion. Jeremy Lent describes himself on his (engaging) website as an “author and integrator.” His book, The Patterning Instinct is a “cultural history of humanity’s search for meaning.’ A new book The Web of Meaning will appear in Spring 2021.
